10 Ways to Make Money from Home While in Lockdown

I have several friends that have been furloughed from their jobs or some that are no longer working since Covid-19 came along. I wanted to share some tips to earn a few bucks or swag during this time period for them.

We’ve all seen the countless plots, gimmicks, articles, and suggestions on what you can do to make money online — but I’m not going to add most of those jobs in here. No survey taking, or video watching — only legitimate jobs you can do from your computer…

The Blog Itself (Blogging)

Many people start with Blogger or Wordpress.com — they are the FREE versions of a blog. But my thought on that is always to have your own self-hosted blog. Now, I know it costs some money for hosting and a theme to do it right.

So, if you are short on cash why not write on Medium here? You can get paid to write here. It’s not guaranteed but at least you have the chance to make money writing here. If your content is good enough it will get more readers and you can earn few bucks.

Social Media Postings and More

Seeding Up, They pay you based on your followers and social media / blog channels. You log in and connect your social media channels and wait for offers. I have them set up to go to email and then I can pick and choose which I want to use.

Like most of the online income streams you have to hook up your Paypal account or share your Paypal email to get paid. It’s easy!

Another program I like is called Webinfluential. It’s an influencer marketing program, you can purchase influencers for your brand or be an influencer for brands. They pay you good amount of money to write blog post/ share on social media etc. You just have to put a little time into it. It’s always time or money you need to invest to generate an income.

App/Web Developer

If you’re a night owl and love to nerd out hard — then becoming an app or web developer could be your route for how to make money online. Today, there is simply no option for not having a website or app if you’re a small business. You need to have good skills for app/web development.

You can get projects work from freelancers site or directly connect to any client to develop mobile application or website. If you are Indian student then you start work from home internship from internshala with a good amount of stipend.

Affiliate Marketing

If you can get enough traffic, whether it be from a blog or a landing page on a specific topic — affiliate marketing is a great option how to make money online. All you do is use special links referring traffic to a particular service/product and get a percentage of the sale. Amazon has one of the biggest and best affiliate programs.

Freelance Writer/Editor

This took awhile to get to. And a lot of hours. And that’s why freelance writing is in extremely high demand. Blogs need content — every. single. day. And business owners simply don’t have the time to research, plan, and post a new article everyday. If you have a skill with words — you can easily start off making money at around $15/hr as a freelance writer. The bigger companies you score deals with — those rates can go up to $100/hr…for writing 🙂

Marketing has changed at a rapid pace. Some marketers even believe that marketing has changed more in the past two years than in the previous 50 years.

Most startups these days have adopted digital marketing. But not all the weapons that digital marketers have in their arsenals are equally effective. Some digital marketing strategies hit the bullseye, while others don’t even come close.

Teaching English online

Online English Teaching is about teaching English to a non-native English speaker over the Internet through the use of a computer and a webcam. Students can learn English either one-on-one or in a small group. Both students and teachers can set their preferred timing and the teachers can teach from any location that is convenient for them.

You may not be aware that Online teaching and training is a highly demanding profession and is gaining popularity in various sectors from universities to Fortune 500 companies. I would recommend it for someone who has a bit of teaching experience or experience with kids and is looking to work online.

You could also join websites that connect you with sponsors. If you have a growing social media following, it’s easier to get collaborations.

Some websites give you the opportunity for you to make money even with a small following.

Linqia: Connect your social media accounts and Google Analytics to get started with Linqia. Then, brands will reach out to you to collaborate on a sponsored post.
Activate by Bloglovin: Once you get your profile set up with Bloglovin, you see a queue of campaigns. You can read through the campaigns and apply/pitch to the company to collaborate on a blog post or social media posts.
Izea: Connect with advertisers to promote their articles, products, etc. on social media (Twitter/Facebook).

Translating

Knowing a language other than English may even help you earn some extra bucks. There are several websites that offer translation projects that require translating a document from one language into another. This may include Spanish, French, Arab, German, or any other language to or from English.

For many, this can make the task rather time-consuming and therefore they hire translators available online from anywhere across the globe. Several websites such as Freelancer.in, Fiverr.com, worknhire.com or Upwork.com offers you a platform to be a professional translator.

Create a product to sell to your audience.

This is probably my favorite of the list (which is why I saved it for last). This is the money-making endeavor that allows you to showcase your creativity and originality. You are literally creating something that wasn’t there before that can benefit your following all while making money doing so. This can take more time depending on the type of product you create.

If you’re an organization guru, you can sell speaking opportunities to different organizations.
You can write about your experience and expertise in an ebook or ecourse. Example: The Creative Penn
Or, if you’ve worked in a specific career field for a long period of time, you can write educating others about your career choice and any advice you have. A hot one nowadays is online coaching.

Not sure what to create? If you have an engaged email list, ask them! Ask for feedback. See what struggles they are dealing with. This is a great way to do market research and help them with their problems.
